Niente che sia d’oro…

… resta.

Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Niente che sia d’oro resta

In Natura il primo verde è dorato,
e subito svanisce.
Il primo germoglio è un fiore
che dura solo un’ora.
Poi a foglia segue foglia.
Come l’Eden affondò nel dolore
Così oggi affonda l’Aurora.
Niente che sia d’oro resta.
